How long does it take to get your deposit back?

Following the termination of a lease, the landlord has 15 days to return the deposit, or 30 days to provide letter of itemized deductions. Upon receiving this letter, tenants have 15 days to respond. If no agreement is met, a court date is set. Typically disputes are solved within two months of lease termination. 

How do I know if I have a strong case?

Our eligibility test was specifically tailored by our team to determine the validity of your claim. Depending on the results of the test, we can determine how strong your specific case is and move forward from there.

What would warrant my case being rejected?

If the results of the survey show that the landlord has followed all the appropriate steps when keeping your deposit then we will not follow up on your claim.

If my case was denied due to a timing issue, what are my next steps?

If your case was not accepted due to a timing related issue, we will keep your information on file and contact you as soon as the required time passes.

What if the “Letter of Demand” is denied or ignored?

Landlords have 15 days upon receipt of the LOD to respond.  If they fail to do so, you will win the case by default.  However, if they disagree,  the next step will likely be small claim court. Don't worry though! We will match you up with a lawyer through our extensive network who will represent you,

How long does my landlord have to return my Security Deposit?

Landlords have 30 days from lease termination to provide either a full refund of the security deposit, or a letter sent by certified mail explaining the deductions.

How do I respond to my landlord's letter?

If you disagree with your landlords deductions, you are required to respond via certified mail within 15 days of receipt.

How does the payment work?

A user will only be charged if we find that they are entitled to their security deposit refund. Once determined, it is a flat fee of $39 to send the formal request letter and pair you with a legal representative if needed.
